Description
This report summarizes the two-day workshop proceedings and pre-workshop survey results. On Day One, it covered digital and innovative solutions for reducing food loss and waste (FLW). There was also a forum for APEC member economies to share successful experiences and challenges from the application of innovative digital technologies to build resilience of food supply chain. On Day Two, the workshop focused on the strategies associated with the expanded use of these technologies and the important role of APEC as a regional organization for capacity-building and possible collaboration on public policy initiatives.
Moreover, a pre-workshop APEC survey regarding the topic was conducted and reported in the workshop. The survey included four parts: (1) Post-COVID-19 situation of FLW along the food supply chain; (2) Digitalization or innovative technologies used to manage FLW; (3) Strengthening food system resilience; and (4) Inclusion of FLW targets in greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction goals.
