Description

The publication examines the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on renewable energy development in selected APEC economies. The analysis covers 1) assessment on the impacts on RE projects, including these under the plan, construction and in operation, and the impacts on renewable industry supply chains; 2) evaluation of the resilience of RE development and deployment during the crisis; 3) reviewing recovery trajectories and changes in energy demand, and economies’ stimulus packages, and 4) analysing renewable energy development under the stated policies.

The findings from the survey organized as part of the project identifies the key issues and recovery strategies, priority and approach supporting renewable energy development, which include the relevant energy policy, investment support and adjustment of relevant regulatory framework and market mechanism.

The publication synthesizes recommendations enhancing the resilience of the energy systems and sustaining and accelerating renewable energy development in the APEC region, and the publication provides a decision-making reference to support energy transition in the APEC economies.
