3. Background

Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, MAFF, Japan holds “APEC High Level Public-Private Forum on Cold Chains to Strengthen Agriculture and Food’s Global Value Chains,” as an APEC project with the co-sponsorship of China, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand, and United States.

This forum aims to establish and upgrade cold chains contributes to food security by reducing food losses, and to empower of agriculture by involving agriculture and food producers into food value chains. Cold chains also serve the fundamentals to improve people’s life.

The conference shares the research achievements and experiences on cold chain from various stakeholders, such as academics, private sectors, as well as government sectors.

4. Objective

✔ To review the function of cold chains and to understand cold chain technologies along food value chains from producers to final consumers,

✔ To share experience on establishing and upgrading the cold chains which involve agriculture producers into food value chains,

✔ To build a relationship among participants, and utilize the relationship to exchange information one another when it is necessary after the Forum.
