This project promotes the adoption of AI-enabled human–machine collaboration to enhance productivity, workforce resilience, and sustainability in the heavy steel construction and infrastructure sectors across APEC economies. Through surveys, seminars, policy discussions, and technical site visits, the project identify common challenges, share smart welding case, and strengthen regional cooperation among policymakers, industry representatives, researchers, and SMEs. Seminar speaker emphasis is placed on addressing skilled labor shortages through collaborative robotics, accelerating technology adoption, and improving workforce capabilities. The project also encourages greater participation of women in welding engineering and materials research, supporting inclusive human resource development. By fostering knowledge exchange and cross-fora collaboration, the project aims to build capacity, advance digital transformation, and promote resilient, innovative, and competitive industrial development throughout the APEC region.
